Area hotel quarantine begins April 1st
Pattaya. Pattaya's Mayor Sontaya Kunplome has announced the imminent introduction of the so-called Area Hotel Quarantine in Pattaya on Facebook.
Sontaya stated that this initiative was the result of collaboration between three ministries: health, tourism and transport.
The project will start on April 1st in five provinces: Chonburi (Pattaya), Chiang Mai, Surat Thani (Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan), Phuket and Krabi.
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has meanwhile announced that from April 1, both Thais and foreigners who come to Thailand will only have to spend ten days in quarantine.
During this time they will be tested twice for Covid-19 – once on the third and once on the ninth or tenth day.
Exceptions are countries with virus mutations. In this case, the quarantine time is 14 days.
If the Covid-19 test turns out negative after the third day in the Area Hotel quarantine, tourists can leave their rooms and use the hotel's gym or swimming pool at certain times, for example. They can be outdoors on the hotel grounds or buy groceries and products.
Mayor Sontaya said 20 hotels are awaiting approval to offer the Area Hotel Quarantine. Leonard Brix
