Chonburi. In the eastern provinces, which are currently under maximum Covid-19 control, the restrictions could soon be lifted after a steady decline in new infections.

Deputy Health Minister Sathit Pitutecha announced the good news. He said the outcome of the Covid-19 measures in eight eastern provinces was satisfactory, considering the speed at which the virus was contained.

Sathit visited Chonburi yesterday, where he met local health and administration officials.

“We must thank citizens for their patience and cooperation that led to this unexpectedly rapid success in containing the outbreak,” he said. The proposal to relax corona restrictions in the eastern provinces will be submitted to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration for consideration.

On Saturday there was no new Covid-19 case in Chonburi, only one in Rayong. Leonard Brix
