No quarantine from January?
Bangkok. According to the Thai media, there are increasing indications that Thailand should be reopened to tourism in several phases. The quarantine could be removed from January 2022.
Tourism Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakan plans to come up with a plan by the end of the week to allow tourists from low-risk countries such as Germany, UK, Italy, China, Japan, South Korea and India to travel to Thailand.
First of all, the so-called area quarantine is to be introduced from April 1. Tourists must be quarantined for seven days from April to September if they have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in their home countries. It is ten days for tourists who have not been vaccinated.
During this area quarantine, tourists can use the hotel's fitness facilities, swim, and ride bicycles. They can eat food that is brought in from outside.
After the quarantine is completed, tourists can move freely anywhere in Thailand.
The area quarantine is to be introduced initially in Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani (Koh Tao, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan), Phangnga and Bangkok.
According to the tourism minister's plans, the quarantine could be completely eliminated from January 2022. Then an entry certificate would no longer be required, which would be replaced by a vaccination passport. Leonard Brix
