Pattaya is planning its own vaccination program
Pattaya. The mayor of Pattaya discussed with officials how to initiate a separate vaccination program for the seaside resort.
Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Health had previously approved local authorities to run their own programs, but they also have to finance them themselves.
Mayor Sontaya Khunpluem said the Pattaya finance department had already signaled that there was enough money for the purpose.
The estimated cost of each vaccination is 300 baht. Since people need two doses of the vaccine, the total cost is 600 baht per person, the mayor said.
In Pattaya, according to Sontaya, 120,000 people are registered in the “tabian ban” who are entitled to this vaccination. Accordingly, the city expects costs of over 70 million baht.
It was not mentioned whether foreigners could also take part in the vaccination program. Leonard Brix
